A snapshot of solitude, of routine, of the strange rituals we create to feel safe when the world outside feels uncertain. The line between comfort and survival blurs, and what soothes us one day becomes habit the next.
This painting represents how many reacted to the imposed restrictions during the recent pandemic. Fear fueled hypochondria is one of the many responses to the non stop warnings and the social distancing.
Feeling safe only in their homes with family members, many people felt protected against eminent death by taking in medication and being among the first to get vaccinated.
The blue and red pills in the painting are not chosen casually. They represent the choice people could make: giving in to fear or staying home (mandatory) with a clear mind. Either way, home it was. Binge watching Netflix content sky rocketed. Seeking distraction from the covid threat and instant satisfaction was the only thing 'the feared and the fearless' had in common.
